In a recent IDEAS AT WORK post we discussed the lack of women in STEM fields – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. But, it’s no secret that there is an overall need to create interest in STEM fields, in general.
There are many resources and programs available to enhance interest in these fields, including NASA’s Kids Club, designed to educate kids through play, and The Futures Channel, which was created to help students succeed in STEM fields using videos. Many of you can probably come up with a few as well!
Now, there is a resource right in our backyard! The iTech Academy magnet school program launched this Fall at Miami Springs Senior High School. The program focuses on science, technology, engineering and math via digital design, coding, and gaming. Click here for a detailed article. And, as always, think of ways that FSE can help our students keep the innovation & creativity going in schools and classrooms everywhere!
