Defining Excellence

Can you define excellence? More than likely, you could probably recite the definition, exactly as it appears in Webster’s Dictionary…’The quality or state of excelling’. And that meaning is and has remained the same.

But can you define excellence as it relates to business today? According to the article Redefining Excellence for Today’s World the business world has changed drastically in the last 30 years and  the time has come to redefine what excellence means!

The principles of excellence in business,  according to author Holly Green, remain the same (and are still useful today). Some of them include:

  • Staying close to the customer
  • Productivity through people
  • Focusing on what you do best
  • And more

But, today, in this hyper-fast world it takes more to achieve excellence… Take a look at the article (linked above) to find what critical elments are needed to clearly define and enhance excellence!

“Excellence is the unlimted ability to improve the quality of what you have to offer.”

~Rick Pitino, American Basketball Coach
